Tony
Cowell was born and raised in
Elstree
,
England
– the home of the British film industry. His mother, Julie was a
former actress and dancer. He is the older brother of American
Idol’s Simon Cowell.
Tony left school at sixteen to go to drama school. He worked on
the TV series The Saint with Roger Moore. In 1969 He joined Eon
Productions (Producers of the James Bond films) to work for Cubby
Broccoli and Harry Saltzman. Tony worked as an assistant on the
Bond film You Only Live Twice, and on the film version of Chitty
Chitty Bang Bang.
In 1986 he began to focus on his creative writing. He studied
journalism and became a freelance journalist specializing in
interview features on books, authors and

Tony
has appeared and contributed to all the recent TV biographies on
his brother Simon including ITV’s This Is Your Life, The
US TV biography on Simon. (E. Entertainment).
In
the US Tony is a regular contributor to the CBS radio, Clear
Channel and Saga Communications network with his Cowell Celebrity
Gossip report. During American Idol season 7 – Tony conducted 73
radio editions of his Cowell Celebrity Gossip.
In
Britain
he is a regular guest on ITV's This Morning, Sky News,
BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live.
Tony has recently formatted a TV series called American
Bestseller – a TV talent search for new authors.
Tony is the subject of
a documentary for BBC 3 called Relatively Famous which goes
to air autumn 2008
